The Founding Constitution and By-Laws of the LASCA

The name of the association shall be The Los Angeles Social Cricket Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance)

Objectives:

To promote the game of cricket in the Los Angeles and Southern California area. To make the game available to as many people as possible. To encourage the development of good quality cricket grounds in Los Angeles and Southern California. To play the game in a gentlemanly and sporting manner, within the rules of cricket as laid down by the M.C.C.

Membership:

The Alliance shall consist of the following (founder) members:

Any club wishing to join the Alliance must be voted in by at least 60% of member clubs at the AGM. The Alliance reserves the right to refuse membership to any team or player.

Dues:

Each club shall pay the sum of $200 per annum, membership to the Alliance.

President of the Alliance shall run for one year and shall be handed on January 1st to the club which has served as vice-president in the previous year.

The President club's duties shall consist of making sure that we have a ground to play on; producing a fixture list for the new season; arranging the end of season dance, and making sure there is adequate entertainment.

Vice-president club shall work alongside president, and become fully prepared to take over the following year.

Secretary: The job of secretary of the Alliance shall be an elected position voted on by the club chairmen. The secretary shall have no term limit, but shall be voted on each year and must have at least 51% majority.

The Treasurer shall be elected in the same way as the secretary. He shall keep and maintain a record of funds and expenses belonging to the Alliance.

Fund-raising: The fund raising committee shall find ways of raising money for:

Ground development (including pitches, sight screens, scoreboards, nets, etc.)

Coaching

Competitions:

League trophy

bullet

British Weekly knock-out cup

bullet

Fair play trophy

Annual General Meetings: On the first Wednesday in November of every year, or such other day within November as the Executive Committee shall decide. A Special Meeting may be called by the Executive Committee on its own authority. Or at the request of two Club Captains, in writing.

Amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws may be made only by a vote in favor of not less than two-thirds of the votes cast at a General Meeting.

Voting: Each member Club shall elect a Playing Captain. He or his proxy will vote on all issues.

The Captains shall decide any Grievance with a straight vote. In the event of a tie, the President shall have the casting vote. The President may also vote as a Club Captain.
